Meet the Board

Al Lerini, President

Al has been with the Dearborn District since 1980 and was hired full-time as a custodian in 1983.  He was promoted to Boiler Operations Specialist at the Miller Administration Building in 1987 and worked at that location until he transferred to Stout Middle School where he worked for 22 years as the Boiler Operator.  Al served as President of the Union from 1989-1991 and was then elected to be Vice-President from 2011-2018.  Al was elected President of the Union again in 2018 and is currently serving in that office.  Al has been an active member of the Union since 1983.

Kyle West, Vice President

Kyle is a Skilled Trades Leader and has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since October of 2010 when he was hired as a journeyman carpenter in the District Operations Department. In 2019, Kyle was promoted to a Skilled Trades Leader and currently holds this position.  He is the Leader of the Carpenters, Masons and the Locksmiths.  Prior to Kyle’s employment with the Dearborn Public Schools, he was a union member of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights where he obtained his journeyman status as a carpenter. Kyle has been an active member of the Union since 2010.

Laurie Kurth, Recording Secretary

Laurie has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since December of 2008 when she was hired into the Food Service department.  After a few years, Laurie moved into the office as a receptionist for the Henry Ford Early College.  In January of 2015, Laurie moved into the position of Media Secretary II and enjoys what she does for/with our student population in the school libraries she is assigned to. Laurie has been an active member of the Union since 2009.

Irene McCarthy, Treasurer

Shannon Manszewski, Financial Secretary

Shannon has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since April 2017. She started off at Long Elementary and currently works as the VirtualK12 Secretary IV. Shannon is also involved in the basketball program at Long Elementary. She has been involved with the PTA group and regularly attends their meetings. Shannon has also been very active in our union on the clerical committee. She has been a union member since she stated in 2017.

Anna Munoz, Trustee

Anna began her career with Dearborn Public Schools in 1998. She worked for five years in Food Service at Maples ES.  In October of 2004, Anna moved into a Media Secretary II position for another five years at McCollough/Unis.  Eager to learn more, she moved to a Secretary II position in the office at Maples ES for another eight years.  While Anna enjoyed what she was doing, she wanted a 12 month position, so in August of 2018 she moved to the Transportation Dept. as a Secretary III. Anna has been an active member of the Union since 1999.

Donna Smith, Trustee

Donna has been working with Dearborn Public Schools since ___. She started her career in the kitchen then switched to a  paraprofessional. Donna has worked throughout the district as a special education paraprofessional with ASD, MOCI, and  POHI students and is currently at Edsel Ford High School. Donna encourages others to join whenever possible and knows the value of a strong union. Donna has been a part of the union since ___.

Angelita Lorenzetti, Sergeant-at-Arms

Angie has been working with Dearborn Public Schools since 2002. She started her career in food service at Stout Middle School. She became a paraprofessional in 2007. Angie used the benefit of the Union to attend HFC and Madonna University to receive a Bachelor's degree in 2010. In 2022, she was promoted to Instructional Technician at Edsel Ford High School. Angie has been involved with the paraprofessional committee for the past 5 years. She loves to help in the educational needs of the students. Angie has been an active member of the union since 2003.
