Meet the Board

Al Lerini, President

Al has been with the Dearborn District since 1980 and was hired full-time as a custodian in 1983.  He was promoted to Boiler Operations Specialist at the Miller Administration Building in 1987 and worked at that location until he transferred to Stout Middle School where he worked for 22 years as the Boiler Operator.  Al served as President of the Union from 1989-1991 and was then elected to be Vice-President from 2011-2018.  Al was elected President of the Union again in 2018 and is currently serving in that office.  Al has been an active member of the Union since 1983.

Kyle West, Vice President

Kyle is a Skilled Trades Leader and has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since October of 2010 when he was hired as a journeyman carpenter in the District Operations Department. In 2019, Kyle was promoted to a Skilled Trades Leader and currently holds this position.  He is the Leader of the Carpenters, Masons and the Locksmiths.  Prior to Kyle’s employment with the Dearborn Public Schools, he was a union member of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights where he obtained his journeyman status as a carpenter. Kyle has been an active member of the Union since 2010.

Laurie Kurth, Recording Secretary

Laurie has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since December of 2008 when she was hired into the Food Service department.  After a few years, Laurie moved into the office as a receptionist for the Henry Ford Early College.  In January of 2015, Laurie moved into the position of Media Secretary II and enjoys what she does for/with our student population in the school libraries she is assigned to. Laurie has been an active member of the Union since 2009.

Hyat Nagy, Treasurer

Hyat has been working with Dearborn Public Schools since 2019. She started her career as a classroom paraprofessional at O.L Smith Middle School. Hyat switched from a classroom paraprofessional in 2021 to a one on one paraprofessional at Woodworth Middle School. Hyat is currently at Edsel Ford High School still in her current position. Hyat has been a part of the DSEHP Committee for the last 2 years. She loves to help in the educational needs of the students. Hyat has been a part of the union since 2019.

Chelsea Jankowiak, Financial Secretary

Chelsea has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since March 2021 and currently works for the Technology team’s Help Desk. Prior to that, she spent a decade working for the international automotive industry as well as Microsoft - teaching others how to use technology and managing end-user access. She switched to working for local school districts in August 2020 shortly after returning to Michigan. She has assisted the union with the website design for the last couple years and has been an active member since April 2021.

Khitam Rabadi, Trustee

Kathy has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since 1994.  She started her career as a secretary in the Bilingual Department.  She also worked at Edsel Ford High School for 12 years and has been at Stout Middle School for the past 15 years. Kathy has been a Board Trustee for the past four years for the DFSE Local Union for Dearborn Public Schools and is also very involved in enrolling our Non-instructional employees to become union members. Kathy loves what she does and loves meeting and chatting with both new and current employees. Kathy has been an active member of the Union since 1994.

Justin Miller, Trustee

Justin has been with the Dearborn Public Schools since January 2022 and currently works for the grounds department. Prior to that, Justin was an international journeyman concrete polisher for 15 years.You can see his work next time you go to Ford Field and Little Caesars Arena. (Look for the emblems in the concrete floors!) He is also a Navy veteran and served from 1997 to 2001. Justin has been an active member of the Union since he started back in January 2022.

Anna Munoz, Trustee

Anna began her career with Dearborn Public Schools in 1998. She worked for five years in Food Service at Maples ES.  In October of 2004, Anna moved into a Media Secretary II position for another five years at McCollough/Unis.  Eager to learn more, she moved to a Secretary II position in the office at Maples ES for another eight years.  While Anna enjoyed what she was doing, she wanted a 12 month position, so in August of 2018 she moved to the Transportation Dept. as a Secretary III. Anna has been an active member of the Union since 1999.

Angelita Lorenzetti, Sergeant-at-Arms

Angie has been working with Dearborn Public Schools since 2002. She started her career in food service at Stout Middle School. She became a paraprofessional in 2007. Angie used the benefit of the Union to attend HFC and Madonna University to recieve a Bachelor's degree in 2010. In 2022, she was promoted to Instructional Technician at Edsel Ford High School. Angie has been involved with the paraprofessional committee for the past 5 years. She loves to help in the educational needs of the students. Angie has been an active member of the union since 2003.
